Darwin is a playful, affectionate 3 month old husky/border collie mix that weighs 12 lbs. He is expected to be around 45-50 lbs when he is full grown. Darwin is amazingly sweet, spunky, and smart. He’s incredibly affectionate and has a sweet habit of kind of hugging you when you pick him up, leaning in for extra closeness and love. He finds every chance he can to crawl into his foster mom's lap for cuddles and nap time in between his play sessions. He has a calm, easygoing nature and adapts well to whatever his humans are doing. His go-with-the-flow personality makes him equally content joining in on outdoor adventures or relaxing at home by your side. He is an energetic little go-getter who naturally approaches new things with confidence and curiosity. He would be perfect for an active family who enjoys the outdoors and would love to join them on any adventure they're going on. His current foster home is off a river and he has shown a strong interest in the running water. He loves to watch it and explore near it, and when he gets older, he would be the type of pup that you can take on fun summertime outings like paddle boarding or swimming at the lake. Darwin is alert, inquisitive, and eager to engage in training activities. He's also very food motivated, so teaching him new tricks is going to be a breeze as long as yummy treats are involved. He is incredibly social and loves everyone he meets, including cats, dogs, and humans. He has a big heart and an adventurous spirit, and would love to join a family that will take him on new adventures and allow him to experience all the fun the outdoors has to offer.

Darwin is a medium energy pup, and needs short leisurely activities to help burn his energy a few times a day. He loves to play with his toys, romp around with his doggy friends, and explore the backyard. When he gets older and masters leash training, he would love to go on walks around neighborhood walking trails and longer hikes on the weekends. He’s not a constant ball of energy, but rather a pup who enjoys activity in bursts followed by cozy rest time. He knows how to entertain himself with his toys when he can't find a furry friend to play with, and loves any toys that squeak or crinkle. After he burns some of that puppy energy, he takes a quick nap, then he wakes up ready to continue on with his playtime. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. As he grows and matures, he’ll be a wonderful companion for longer hikes and outdoor adventures, especially with a family that enjoys exploring nature together. Darwin is content as long as he’s spending time with his people, so whatever adventure they want to go on, he's always happy to join. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time.

Darwin is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs, and also some kitties. He loves to play and cuddle with other dogs of any size and age. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another playful dog in his forever home. He has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from his older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of his puppy antics. He will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when he can't find a doggy playmate. Because of his young age and friendly demeanor, he would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. He loves to play with the younger kitties and respects the space of the older cats that do not appreciate his puppy antics as much. Since he is a goofy, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and will want to play with them. Darwin would do well with kids of all ages. He loves to play and share his sweet puppy kisses with everyone he meets. He is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids. He is going to start teething soon, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around.

Darwin is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training and leash training. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some toys as he settles in. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He is doing well with potty training and will use a potty pad if he needs to go and his foster mom doesn't let him out quick enough. He is still learning how to alert at the back door to notify his fosters that he needs to go out to potty. He will need to have consistent potty breaks to get on a good routine once he is in his forever home, so he will need someone that either works from home or lives nearby work so they can take him out for potty breaks on their lunch break. His foster family is starting to work on leash training, but he will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills as he gets older.

Darwin's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as he gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. It is preferred that his human either works from home, can go home on lunch break to take him out, or can take him into a dog-friendly office while he is still young. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With his adaptable, laid back nature, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. He would do best with a family that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and understands that he is going to be an active dog as he gets older. Darwin is ready to be your best friend, a fun partner for adventures, and a sweet snuggle buddy to end every day with.
