Elton
Elton is a 3 year old wirehair terrier or schnauzer mix that weighs 32 lbs. He is a silly, spunky, playful boy that loves everyone he meets. This boy does not have a shy bone in his body and loves to meet new friends - both human and furry. His favorite activities include playing with toys, going on walks, and cuddling with his human. He would be a great pup to take on outdoor adventures, such as hiking or exploring nature. He is a curious little guy that loves to stop and smell the roses on his walks, and say hello to everyone who walks by. He is super loving and friendly, and is always up for an adventure. He also enjoys a lazy day cuddling on the couch with his family, too.
Elton is medium energy, so he is pretty mellow with short bursts of energy that requires daily walks and play time. He would love an active family that wants a pup that they can take on every adventure and car ride with them. He enjoys going on walks/hikes, meeting new dogs, and smelling all the smells along the way. He's obsessed with toys, and would benefit from having a Bark Box subscription and a toy box with a variety of toys. His favorite toys to play with are ropes and squeaky toys. He is a big fan of water and loves to go swimming. He even knows how to ride on a paddleboard and would love to have a human that can take him on fun outdoor adventures. He would love a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in, and also would love to have some human siblings and puppy friends to play with.
Elton is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He loves to play with other dogs of an equal or smaller size. His play pattern is chase, wrestle, nap, wake up and repeat. Although he loves other dogs, he would be just fine being an only dog in the home as long as he gets lots of cuddles and playtime from his human. He has been introduced to cats and doesn't mind them at all. He would need to have slow intros to kitties that have not been around dogs before and baby gates are recommended to give the kitty some personal space if needed. Elton would do best with older kids that understand boundaries and knows that dogs do not appreciate having their tails/ears pulled on, so no toddlers or babies. He loves to receive affection from his humans in the form of belly rubs, ear scratches, and back scratches. He will give you the sweetest puppy kisses to show how much he loves you in return.
Elton is kennel, leash and potty trained. He is very well behaved when left out of the kennel at night, so he sleeps on a dog bed or the couch every night with no problems. He would love to snuggle up in bed with his new human mom or dad every night so he can give you the sweetest puppy kisses before he falls asleep. He walks great on a leash and has done well living in an apartment setting with frequent walks and energy burning activities, such as puzzle games and lots of toys to play with inside. Sometimes Elton gets really excited when guests come over and may take a little bit of time to settle down, but ensuring he has plenty of daily exercise cuts down on how excited he gets inside when visitors come by. So if you know you're going to have friends/family over to visit, take him for a short walk beforehand and he will be calmer when they do arrive. He would love a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in, but would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as he is taken on multiple walks per day and gets to go on longer energy burning activities like hiking or swimming on the weekends.
