Joey is a silly, playful 2 month old terrier mix that weighs 8 lbs. He is expected to be around 45-50 lbs when he is full grown. Joey is best described as outgoing, friendly, and super affectionate. He is an all around happy, friendly, social butterfly that loves everyone he meets. He loves to make new doggy friends of all ages and sizes, too. He enjoys running around in the grass and playing chase with his doggy friends. He will get down really low in the grass then when a dog walks by, he will jump up and start a game of chase around the yard. He is pretty laid back and just goes with the flow in his foster home. He's perfectly happy doing whatever his human wants to do, so if you want to just lounge around cuddling on the couch one day, he's going to be sprawled out right next to you chewing on a bone and getting some belly rubs. If you want to go on an outdoor adventure hiking in the wilderness, he's going to be happy to join you for that, too. He is a big cuddle bug and loves to crawl on your lap to get some hugs and belly rubs. He really loves to be held, cuddled, and showered with kisses from his humans. He will also return the affection by giving lots of sweet puppy kisses. He is very treat motivated and has picked up on some basic training and new routines quickly in his foster home. His foster mom works from home and he loves to hang out with her while she's working. He will curl up on a dog bed with his toy or a chew bone, and will keep himself entertained while she works. Sometimes he even wants to crawl in her lap for extra cuddles while she works. He is the perfect pup for a family that is a good mix of active and laid back, and that enjoys both exploring the outdoors and also cuddling up on the couch for a movie night.

Joey is low to medium energy, so he's a perfect mix of active and couch potato. He loves to run around and play with his doggy friends in the backyard but also is perfectly content just lounging around chewing on a stick in the yard. As he gets older, he would love to go on walks around the neighborhood and even longer hikes on the weekends. He gets a lot of his exercise in from playing with the resident dogs in his foster home, and would love to have another playful dog in his forever home. He is always up for a good time and wants to partake in any activity his human wants to do. If you want to go outdoors for a walk or hike, he's happy to join. If you want to have a lazy day just lounging around, he's up for that too! He's just happy to be with his humans. He also loves to play with his toys and will keep himself busy when his humans are busy. He loves playing with squeaky toys, balls, sticks, bones, and stuffed animals, and he will dig through the doggy toy box in his foster home and pull out multiple toys to play with. He would benefit from having a toy box full of different toys to choose from and would love to have a BarkBox subscription so he can get new toys each month, too. When he's not playing with his toys or doggy friends, he loves to just lay on the porch or in the grass sunbathing while he chews on a nice big stick he found in the yard. He's just a go with the flow type of pup and will find ways to entertain himself if he can't find a friend to play with.

Joey is dog, cat and kid friendly. He gets along with dogs of all sizes, ages, and temperaments. He currently is in a foster home with both small and large dogs ranging from ages puppy to senior. He loves to play with the other younger foster puppy and also the 7 lb. resident chihuahua in his foster home, but he really loves the senior pittie the most. He knows that he can't rough house with her and will instead curl up next to her and shower her with lots of sweet puppy kisses. He coexists with all types of different dog personalities very well and would do great with any age/size range in his forever home, but he would really love to have another playful dog that will partake in a good game of tug-o-war with him. He has met cats and is interested in being friends with them, too. He would do well with a dog-friendly cat in the home that has been around dogs before and is comfortable around them since he is a playful puppy and will want to be friends with them. He is kid friendly and loves his humans - big or small. The more hands to give him belly rubs and scratches, the better. He is very sweet and affectionate, so he would be perfect for a family who has kids of any age. He is going to through the teething phase soon, so he will need to have an adult be able to redirect him with a toy/chew if there are younger toddlers or babies in the home that may have fun kid toys that Joey may try to chew on.

Joey is kennel trained and potty trained. and is working on mastering leash training. He sleeps in a kennel at night and knows his night time routine. When it is bed time, he will run straight to his kennel and wait for his human to open the door for him to go inside. Then he patiently waits for his reward treat and curls up to sleep after he eats it. Once he is older, he would love to sleep with humans snuggling in bed at night. He is excelling at potty training, and runs to the back door when he needs to go outside. He is still working on alerting his humans all the time though and when he's in full blown play mode, sometimes he holds it too long and will use a potty pad by the backdoor if his foster mom doesn't make it there in time to open the door. As long as he gets a set schedule going outside every few hours for consistent potty breaks in his forever home, he should be able to transition quickly and shouldn't have many, if any, accidents inside. He is still learning what a leash is and right now things it is just a toy for him to play with, so he will need some practice perfecting his leash walking skills in his forever home.

Joey's ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard that he can run around and play in. He would love to have another friendly, playful dog in his forever home, but would be okay as an only dog as long as he gets to have playdates with other dogs to continue his socialization and be able to learn from older dogs. No dog parks for Joey as he needs to have positive interactions with other dogs as he grows, and dog parks are not the place to do that. He would do great with kids of any age, and would really love some little humans that can run around and play with him, too. His perfect family would be a a good mix of active and laid back, that enjoys the outdoors, and wants a pup that can join them on all the fun adventures.
