Peaches

Peaches is a silly, snuggly 3 month old terrier mix that weighs 12 lbs. She is estimated to be around 45 - 50 lbs once she is full grown. Peaches is a playful and affectionate puppy that is happiest when she is spending time with her people. Whether it's just hanging out at home cuddling on the couch, going for walks around the neighborhood, or going on fun adventures to dog-friendly stores around town, Peaches is happy to join. Her foster mom will carry her around in a puppy sling when they go to dog-friendly stores and she relaxes the whole time she's being carried around. She is very social when she meets new people and loves to be cuddled on. She is very self entertaining while her foster mom works from home, and keeps herself busy with her toys and chew bones. Her favorite spot to hang out is under her foster mom's desk while she works, and she will quietly play with her toys for most of the day until it's time to go outside. She is very smart and is quick to pick up on new routines and feels confident even in new environments. She doesn't have a shy bone in her body, so whether it's a new human friend or doggy friend, Peaches will act like she's known them forever.
Peaches is low to medium energy, so she's pretty mellow with short bursts of energy that requires a few short exercise sessions per day like playing fetch, going on short walks, or playing with her doggy friends in the yard. As she gets older she will require longer walks or play time throughout the day to help burn her puppy energy. She knows how to wind down and relax when needed, and if she can't find a human or doggy friend to play with, she will grab one of her toys or Benebone chews to keep herself busy. She loves to explore her foster's giant country backyard and could spend forever just snooting around and checking out all the areas she thinks she can find the perfect stick to chew on. When she does find that perfect stick, she sprawls out in the grass to sunbathe and chew on it. She loves to follow the resident dog around the yard as they switch between snooting in the grass and romping around playing together. She's even learning how to hold her own in a fun game of tug-o-war. Peaches would be the perfect pup for an active family that enjoys hiking and going on outdoor adventures because this girl is always up for having fun in sun.
Peaches is dog, cat, and kid friendly. She loves to play with other dogs of any size, age, and personality. She is currently in a foster home with both small and large dogs. She loves to play with the larger dog and engage in a good game of tug-o-war, but she is still learning that the older chihuahua doesn't want to play with her. She just loves everyone and wants everyone to be her friend. She is learning so much from the older dogs in her foster home, like proper doggy communication skills and how to read their body language. She even responds well to redirection when they are tired of her puppy antics and communicate that she needs to go find something else to play with. She would benefit from having another friendly, playful, and confident dog or two in her forever home so that she can continue learning from as she grows. She has been introduced to cats and has been friendly towards them, but still hasn't quite figured out why not all of them want to be her friend. If there was a kitty in her forever home, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. Peaches would do well with kids of all ages as she loves to be cuddled and loved on, but she is teething, so keeping lots of chew toys and doggy bones around to redirect her with is important so she doesn't try to nibble on kid's toys or shoes that may be lying around. Since she is very sweet, silly, and affectionate, she would do great with a family with kids who want a playful and fun pup to play and snuggle with.
Peaches is kennel trained, and is still working on mastering potty training and leash training. She sleeps in a kennel and playpen setup at night with a few toys and she stays quiet throughout the night. When she gets older, she would love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She is doing well with potty training and has transitioned to going potty outside. She is still learning how to alert her fosters that she needs to go outside, but will use a potty pad. She has not had an accident inside at all because she will find her potty pad to go on if she needs to. As long as she gets a set schedule going outside every few hours for consistent potty breaks, she doesn't have any accidents inside. She is still learning how to walk on a leash and right now thinks it is just a toy for her to play with, but she is getting acclimated to wearing one for short periods as she practices with her foster mom. She will need to continue leash training in her forever home so that she can perfect her skills in more busy city settings.
Peaches' ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse if her human works from home, can take her to a doggy day care, or with them to a dog-friendly office during the day. No public dog parks for this spunky girl, but she would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots occasionally for playtime/exercise if she does live in an apartment or townhome without a private yard. She would also benefit from going to doggy day care so she can make new puppy friends while also burning some energy if you work outside of the home during the day. She would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. She does need to have someone home most of the day or that can take her out every few hours while she is still working on mastering potty training. She really just loves to be with her humans, and wants to spend as much time as possible cuddling and spending time with them so making sure that she isn't left alone all day and again in the evenings is important.
