Penny

Penny is a gentle, sweet 2 year old terrier mix that weighs 45 pounds. She is full grown and will not get any larger. She is a playful and friendly pup that is always smiling. She is a social butterfly that loves everyone she meets. She is great at self entertaining with her toys and chews, and would be a great office dog if you work from home. She loves to lounge on a dog bed nearby and just be in your presence. She doesn't need your constant attention, but just really loves to spend time with her humans and will keep herself busy either napping or playing with her toys. Penny is very smart and food motivated. She knows a few obedience tricks like sit, down, and shake. She loves to do these tricks for treats but also for belly rubs. She is just happy to please her humans, and loves to be rewarded affection and praise. She is the happiest when she is close to her humans and is the perfect companion for someone that wants a friendly dog that can go on fun outings with them. Whether it's taking leisurely walks on nature trails, enjoying brunch with friends at a dog-friendly place, or going to a get together with friends and their dogs, Penny is always happy to join.
Penny is low to medium energy, so she is pretty mellow with short bursts of energy that can be easily burned with short exercise sessions. She loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and then snuggle on the couch after. She would benefit from having a toy box full of stuffed squeaky toys and chew bones. She really loves to sunbathe on a sunny day, and you'll usually see her rolling around in the grass until she finds a comfy spot to take a nap. She occasionally gets zoomies in the yard when she's playing with a doggy friend. If the other dog is super playful, she will even engage in a game of tug-o-war or a fun play-wrestle match. She usually lets the other dog win then goes back to rolling around in the grass and settles in for a quick snooze. Her ideal family would love the outdoors, whether it's going on hikes, exploring nature trails, or even just gardening in the backyard. She just loves to be with her humans and if they love the outdoors, she's always up for an adventure with them.
Penny is dog, cat, and kid friendly. When it comes to dogs, she is submissive and polite. She loves dogs that can match her play style, but happily coexists with the ones that don't. She is in a foster home with large and small dogs ranging in ages from puppy to senior, and she does great with them all. She gets along great with cats in the home as well and finds them very interesting to watch. She is in a foster home with 2 cats. One is dog-friendly and one is not. She respects the space of cats when they need it but is so happy to engage in play if that's something they want too. Penny also would be great in a home with children of any ages due to her gentle and sweet nature. She loves to be loved on and would hours snuggled up next to her family getting belly rubs if she could. The more people to cuddle and love, the better.
Penny is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She happily and willing goes into her kennel to relax when the door is left open during the day. At night, she puts herself to bed too and doesn't mind at all sleeping in the kennel. She would be really happy to be able to sleep in bed with her humans, but wouldn't make a fuss if that's not what her human is up for. She is fully potty trained and has never had an accident in her foster home. She will notify you when she needs to go outside by patiently standing by the backdoor. Penny walks wonderfully on a leash too. She enjoys going on walks around the neighborhood and is happy to say hello to other humans and well behaved dogs. She comes off as being a little shy on walks when she comes across new people, but she really is just waiting for them to make the first move to show her some affection. She is gaining confidence everyday in her foster home and gets so happy when her foster mom leashes her up because she knows that means walk time around the neighborhood. She also enjoys car rides and would love to tag along anywhere her humans allow her to.
Penny's ideal family would be a good mix of laid back, low energy and fun, adventurous. She would love to have a family that enjoys the outdoors, like going on fun adventures hiking and exploring nature, but also that has a laid back energy and enjoys having lazy days lounging around the house. She would love to have another confident, playful dog in the home that she can be friends with, but would be fine being the only dog as long as she gets to spend lots of time with her human. She can coexist with independent dogs that don't want to be her friend, but she would be happiest having a doggy companion to spend time with. She would love to have a family that has kids to snuggle and cuddle with. She would be great with kids of all ages, but would really love kids that are old enough to play with her. Her ideal home environment would be a house with a fenced in backyard, but would be fine in an apartment, townhome, or condo as long as her human is home often and can take her on a few leisurely walks each day.
