Carly is a playful, sweet 4 month old Schnauzer mix that weighs 10 lbs. She is estimated to be around 35-40 lbs once she is fully grown. The best way to describe Carly is is affectionate, loyal, playful, loving, and spunky. She is naturally curious and wants to be included in everything her humans are doing. She will be your loyal little shadow and follow you around from room to room just to watch what you're doing. One minute she’s making you laugh with her silly antics, and the next she’s curled up in your arms, completely melting your heart with her sweetness. When Carly picks her favorite people, she is completely loyal to them. She likes to keep her social circle small and prefers to just be around her favorite humans. When meeting new people, Carly can be a little shy and tends to keep her distance from them until she is comfortable. Carly is also a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs though. She loves to meet new doggy friends and just lights up when she meets a new playful furry companion. Her playful nature makes her a wonderful candidate for a home with another friendly, playful dog. Although Carly is still building her confidence in public settings, she has already shown that she really wants to explore the world with her people. She is making progress with her self-confidence in new places, and will need continued positive exposure and encouragement as she gets older. With patient humans who are willing to help her experience new sights, sounds, and places at her own pace, Carly has all the potential to become a confident and enthusiastic adventure buddy.  She will benefit from continued training, structure, socialization, and positive reinforcement as she matures. Her curiosity and desire to be involved make her eager to learn, and her affectionate nature gives her a wonderful foundation for building a strong bond with her family. Carly would thrive with a family that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time at home. She would love a family who will take her along to explore nature, help her gain confidence in the world, and then come home for a relaxing cuddle session. Carly is medium energy, so she's a perfect mix of active and laid back. She has short bursts of puppy energy that can be quickly burned by running around in the backyard, playin tug-o-war with her humans, and having solo playtime with her toys. She would love to have another dog in the home to play with or have frequent play dates with doggy friends. As she gets older, she will likely need longer walks or have play time in the backyard a few times a day. She loves to play with mental stimulation toys, like treat dispensing toys, puzzle games, and snuffle mats. She also loves jumping in big piles of leaves, playing with ice cubes, chasing bugs, running behind the water hose chasing the stream of water, and chewing on sticks. As she masters leash training, she would love to go on fun outdoor hikes or leisurely walks around the park. She would benefit from going to doggy day care a couple of days during the week or have doggy play dates if there are no other dogs in her forever home because she loves having fun with her furry friends and it'll help her build confidence being away for short periods from her humans. While she enjoys playing with his doggy friends, she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when she can't find anyone to play with. She would be the perfect work from home companion because she is happy to hang out with her human all day. Give her a cozy dog bed near your desk, a toys or chews, and she is perfectly content to hang out nearby while you work. She will need more practice and exposure to going to dog-friendly stores and outings in busy public places as she grows up to ensure she continues important socialization skills. She's the type of pup that would thrive in a family that enjoys the outdoors, but also enjoys some lazy days cuddling on the couch too. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that she is about to start teething.

Carly is dog friendly, and she likely would be able to acclimate in a home with a cat with slow introductions. She would prefer a home without young children or lots of foot traffic from kids going in/out all day. She does best with teenagers who will respect her boundaries and understand that she may take some time to be comfortable with them. Young children make her nervous and she prefers not to be handled by them. She would be happiest if she was only in a home with adults though that do not have frequent visits from kids in the home. If children are visiting the home, Carly would need to be kept in her own safe space, like a bedroom or kennel, so that she has a calm, quiet place to relax while the visitors are there because they just make her nervous. She was previously in a home with other dogs and enjoyed their company. She would thrive in a home with a confident, social, playful dog that she can continue learning from as she gets older. She would also benefit from having frequent play dates with doggy friends or go to doggy day care a couple times a week so ahe continues having positive interactions with other dogs as ahe grows up. Because of her young age, she would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. Since she is a silly, playful puppy, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she is a puppy and will want to play with them. 

Carly is kennel trained and has almost mastered potty training, and has just started working on leash training. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and will stay asleep all night, but has to be bribed with some yummy treats and some toys to go inside initially. When she gets older, she would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She has started leash training, but she is still working on building her self confidence enough to go on long walks. She will need additional practice to perfect her leash walking skills in her forever home. She is doing well with potty training and her fosters are teaching her how to use bells to signal that she needs to go outside. She will start sniffing around at the back door when she does need to go. She does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours while she transitions to a new schedule in her forever home. 

Carly's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in. She’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets regular walks and playtime. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog to grow up with and continue learning from as she gets older. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if she doesn't have a private fenced-in yard. If you work out of the home, she would benefit from going to doggy day care a few days a week so she can burn energy and play with some doggy friends. Carly's ideal home would be with a fun, adventurous, loving family that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time, and that will let her be her playful, goofy self and love her unconditionally for it.
