Clara

Clara is a sweet, loving, and silly 3-4 year old pug that weighs 18 lbs. She is fully grown and should not get any larger. Clara is a social, outgoing, friendly little girl that loves to meet new people and show off her class clown personality. She always wants to know first who comes into the room, insisting on being the first to greet and make an assessment, and wait for a yummy treat. She is her foster mom's shadow and will follow you her all over the house. You could say that she's curious, but really she just is a nosy pup that doesn't like to miss out on anything that may be fun or involve food. She will sit there staring at you with her big buggy eyes observing every move you make, Clara is a let-me-sit-with-you kind of girl. She would be happy to go wherever you go and join you on all the fun adventures. Her sweet, silly nature makes her the perfect pup for a family that lives a laid-back lifestyle and wants a dog that can match their energy level. If you want to have a lazy day watching movies snuggled up on the couch, she’s happy to join (with snacks of course). If you want to go on a fun outing, whether it is going to brunch with friends at a dog-friendly restaurant, going on walks to meet the neighbors, or having a fun day splashing in the water at the beach, then she's up for that too. Just don't forget to bring the snacks.
Clara is low to medium energy, she is pretty laid back with short bursts of energy that are easily burned with leisurely exercise activities. She absolutely loves going for walks and is ready to go anytime her human is. She likes to play with her toys at times, but mostly she loves to hang out with her humans. Clara would love a family that enjoys both lounging on the couch, cuddling, going on leisurely walks and making sure that her meals are delivered on time. Although Clara loves to go on leisurely walks around the neighborhood, she isn't a pup that would enjoy marathon runs or extensive hikes. She would also be a great companion to go on fun outings to dog-friendly stores and restaurants because she's always up for spending time with her person. She is very food motivated and will do anything that involves yummy treats. Although she isn't the smartest dog in the world, she's happy to learn new things as long as she gets rewarded with food.
Clara is dog, cat and kid friendly. She absolutely loves her foster mom's grandkids and takes full advantage of all the cuddles and attention she gets from having the extra little humans around. She would prefer to be in a home with older children that respect her personal space when she wants it, but also can give her lots of back scratches and belly rubs when she wants to be the center of attention. She is currently in a foster home with multiple other dogs that range in size from 10 lbs to 90 lbs and coexists well with them. She isn’t interested in playing with them very often as she would much rather play with her toys and spend time with her people. However, she's happy to hang out with them and share the couch as they lounge around together. She could benefit from having a confident, playful dog in her forever home that would also respect her boundaries when she's ready for a nap. She has been introduced to a cat in her foster home as well, and she could not care any less that the cat exists. She just really wants to help herself to the cat food that she can't reach on the table, so she cannot be left in the same room unattended with the kitty food because she will try to billy goat hop on furniture to get to the cat food.

Clara is potty trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. She sleeps in a kennel most nights with the kennel door open, but sometimes decides she would rather sleep on the bed with her foster mom and the resident dogs. She doesn’t make a fuss when everyone is settling down for bedtime and allows the other dogs to get comfortable before she finds her spot to plop down to sleep. All you can hear from Clara approximately 5 seconds after lights out is snoring. She generally doesn’t make a peep until her foster mom gets up in the morning (besides the snoring). When she is settled into her forever home, she would love to be able to sleep close to her new person every night. When she first arrives home it is recommended to use a kennel at night and when you are not home to make sure she has acclimated to a good routine for her potty schedule before letting her roam free. She has done very well with going potty but does need time in a new place to and a regular schedule until she is acclimated. Clara walks well on a leash and gets excited when she is about to go for a walk. She can't wait to get the leash hooked on and get out the door. She isn’t one that wants to go on super long hikes or runs, but she is very happy to walk the neighborhood and see and smell new things.
Clara's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to explore. She would be able to live in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as she gets couple walks a day. She would prefer a human that works from home or that could bring her to a dog-friendly office if they work a hybrid schedule. Clara likes to know everything that is going on. She can bark when humans come in the house, or when she sees someone outside, or when she is peeking through the fence at the neighbor dogs, but it is out of pure excitement. Clara loves to go out and about, but no public dog parks for this sweet girl (who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways). Clara would love to have a person (or two) that is able to spend time and attention on her, and that understands and loves that pug-life. She can coexist with other pets, as long as she gets some individual attention when she's in a cuddly mood. She just really loves to be with her person and wants to spend as much time as possible with them. Clara is going to be a wonderful partner for someone who is looking for a sweet companion to spend time with. She is ready to start the next chapter of her sweet life, and will bring endless love, attention, affection, joy and humor to the person/family lucky enough to call her their own.
