Cricket is a friendly, affectionate 3 year old lab / cattle dog mix that weighs 60 lbs. She is fully grown and will not get any larger. Cricket is the kind of dog who makes it very easy to fall in love with her. She has an easygoing personality and is the perfect combination of fun-loving, affectionate, smart, and wonderfully laid-back. She enjoys going on fun outings like hiking and exploring nature, but she's also perfectly happy hanging out on the couch for a movie night too. Her favorite place in the world is wherever her humans are. She doesn’t need constant entertainment or to be the center of attention. One of the things her fosters love most about Cricket is how adaptable she is. She absolutely loves getting out and doing things, but she doesn’t have to be on the go all the time. Grab her leash and you’ll see her adorable, silly side come out as she does bunny hops until she walks out the door. Want to go hiking? She’s in. Exploring a new trail? Absolutely. A trip to the farmer’s market? She’d love to come. Brunch on a dog-friendly patio? Count her in. A spontaneous car ride with no idea where you’re going? Even better! Cricket loves experiencing the world alongside her humans, and she makes a wonderful adventure buddy. She enjoys getting outside, exploring nature, and taking in all the sights and smells around her. But once the adventure is over, she is perfectly happy to settle down and relax. At home, Cricket is all about the cozy life. She would be thrilled to spend an evening curled up with her family for a movie, lounging on her dog bed, or simply hanging out nearby while everyone does their own thing. Cricket absolutely loves people. She is a friendly, affectionate girl who enjoys meeting new friends and has never met a stranger she didn’t want to charm. When she meets someone new, she will politely stick out her paw for a handshake and then wait patiently for a treat. She has such a sweet, personable nature and genuinely enjoys interacting with the people around her. She is the type of dog who makes everyone feel like her new best friend. If you work from home, Cricket may be your dream coworker. She is remarkably calm and quiet while her fosters are working. When they have meetings, she doesn’t need to be entertained or constantly reassured. Instead, she is perfectly content to settle into her dog bed, chew on a favorite bone, work on a stuffed Kong, and take a few well-earned naps. Cricket understands how to relax and entertain herself. She is happy being near her people without demanding their attention every minute.

Cricket is medium energy, and is best described as an active couch potato. She needs 1-2 hours of exercise per day, but is always happy to go on longer adventures on the weekends. She loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and car rides around town. She also loves playing fetch with her toys and playing with mental stimulation games, like puzzles and treat dispensing toys. She really enjoys engaging in training activities, and already knows sit, shake, and down. The second she sees you reach for one, you have her complete attention. She loves engaging with her humans and figuring out what they’re asking of her, making training a fun way to build an even stronger bond. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, tennis balls, and chew toys, and she'd be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. Her ideal family will be a good mix of active and adventurous, but also enjoys some downtime cuddling up and watching movies on the couch.

Cricket is dog-friendly and kid friendly, but hasn't been tested with cats yet. She is perfectly fine being the only dog in the home and getting all of her humans' attention, but would thrive in a home with a friendly, laid-back canine companion too. She was previously in a foster home with a male dog and female dog, and preferred interacting with the male the most. She would play with the female dog occasionally, but gravitated towards the laid back male dog in the home and was always happy to hang out with him. When meeting a new canine friend, she does get excited initially but quickly calms down once she gets some sniffs in. Cricket has lived with children before in her first foster home and would do great in a home with kids of all ages. She is very gentle, sweet, and patient, and is happy to soak up all the cuddles and belly rubs she can get. She takes treats with the softest mouth, carefully and politely accepting them. When she's ready for another treat, she will stick out her paw to shake your hand after so she would love to have some younger humans to engage in fun training activities with her. She hasn't been tested with cats inside the home yet, but hasn't paid much attention to outdoor cats she's encountered on walks. She shows some interest in trying to sniff them, but doesn't get overly excited or try to pull towards them on the leash. If there are cats in the home, slow introductions and separating with baby gates initially is a must. 

Cricket is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She will go into the kennel if she needs to, but she's perfectly fine being left out without being destructive or having accidents in the home. She sleeps on a dog bed in the living room every night, but would really love to sleep in bed with her humans and get in as many cuddles as she can. She walks well on a leash and is a polite lady when meeting new people on walks.  Sometimes she gets excited when she sees another dog and wants to go meet them. And sometimes she doesn't pay any attention to dogs on walks. If she starts to get excited, she is easily redirected by treats and a verbal correction, and then will continue on her walk. She is potty trained and will notify you that she needs to go out by doing sitting at the back door and doing a little tap dance to get your attention. She will not have an accident inside the home and can hold it throughout the day while her humans are at work and at night when everyone is asleep.

Cricket's ideal home is one where she can spend lots of quality time with her humans. She thrives on companionship and would prefer having a family that is home more often than not, but is perfectly fine having a family work outside of the home as long as she gets plenty of exercise each day. A home with a securely fenced yard would be a dream come true for her because she loves to sunbathe and play fetch in the yard. But a private yard is definitely not a requirement for this adaptable girl. She is currently living happily in a foster home in an apartment downtown and has proven that she can thrive without a yard as long as her family is committed to regular walks, fun enrichment activities, and plenty of time together. She does wonderfully riding the elevator and navigating stairs, so apartment, condo, or townhouse living can be a great fit for her. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if she doesn't have a private fenced-in yard. Cricket would be perfectly content being the only dog in the home and soaking up all the love for herself, but she could also enjoy having a canine companion. She would do best with a friendly, easygoing male dog or a playful, submissive female dog who understands how to have fun without being too overwhelming. Her ideal doggy sibling would enjoy a little playtime, be happy to share toys, and then be equally excited to wind down together on the couch afterward. Cricket would also love a family with children of all ages. She is a social, affectionate girl who enjoys being part of the family and getting to experience everyday life alongside her people.
