Dottie

Dottie is a sweet, outgoing 1.5 - 2 year old bully mix that weighs 45 lbs. She is a petite little low rider that is full grown, so she will not get any larger. Dottie is the total package: loving, goofy, social, playful, cuddly, and endlessly devoted to her people. She absolutely thrives on companionship and wants nothing more than to be included in whatever her humans are doing. Whether it’s hopping in the car for a pup cup run, strolling through the neighborhood, exploring hiking trails, relaxing on a patio, or simply lounging at home for a cozy movie night, she is happiest when she’s by your side. One of the most endearing things about Dottie is her hilarious love for toys. She proudly carries them everywhere she goes like little treasures. You’ll often catch her trotting around the house with a toy in her mouth, showing it off to her foster family and any visitors lucky enough to meet her. She even brings her toys outside to prance around the yard and has been known to carry them on neighborhood walks too. Watching her happily parade around with her favorite toy is guaranteed to make you smile and perfectly captures her silly, innocent, happy-go-lucky personality. She also has a softer side that makes her impossible not to fall completely in love with. She is incredibly affectionate and bonds deeply with her people. She loves meeting new friends and doesn’t hesitate to hand out sweet puppy kisses within seconds of introductions. When she really adores you, she’ll gently wrap her paws around your waist to give you hugs. Her favorite thing in the world is cuddle time. She loves climbing into your lap, resting her head on your chest, and snuggling close. She’s also such a fun dog to have around because her happiness is contagious. She wakes up excited for each day and approaches life with so much enthusiasm and love. She’s playful without being overwhelming, adventurous without being high maintenance. She’s truly the perfect mix of active companion and couch cuddle buddy. Because of her friendly nature and love of adventure, she would thrive with a family that enjoys including their dog in activities and experiences. Dottie has so much love to give and is more than ready to find a forever family who will adore her as much as she’ll adore them. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with a goofy personality, a heart full of love, and the cutest toy-carrying girl you’ve ever seen, Dottie may just be the perfect addition to your family.

Dottie is medium energy, and is best described as a fun and playful couch potato. She really enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation. She will need longer walks or play time multiple times a day to help her burn some energy, but after that, you can find her curled up on the couch taking a long nap. She loves to go on walks to sniff around and explore, so leisurely walks around the neighborhood or longer walking trails for daily exercise are necessary. Outdoor activities are some of Dolly's favorite things to do. She would be the perfect pup for someone who enjoys hiking through the mountains or simply hanging out in the backyard playing a good game of tug-o-war when the weather is nice. She really enjoys playing with her doggy friends, but she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when her humans are busy. She is very smart and engaged in training activities that involves some yummy treats. She also enjoys activities that give her a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that she can work on to win the main prize, some yummy dog treats, are a necessity in her forever home. She loves to play fetch and would play all day with any and all toys. She loves stuffed toys, squeaky toys, fetch toys, tug toys, so basically she loves them all. Her future home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new toys every month.

Dottie is dog and kid friendly, and could be paired with the right kitty friend in her forever home. She is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs. She loves to run around the yard and play with younger, active dogs, and is more courteous and calm when she's around the older dogs. She loves to cuddle with her doggy friends too and you can usually catch her snuggled up next to them on a dog bed or couch. She would love to have another playful dog in her forever home, but she would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home too. After all, she loves her humans more than anything. Dottie would love to have older kids in the home that she can play fetch and cuddle with. Because she doesn't realize her size and has the happiest wiggle butt when she's excited, she may knock over a young child or toddler who is learning how to walk. However, she is very loving, sweet, and loves to be cuddled and loved on, so she would love to have kids in the home that she can share her love and play with. She has a kitty in her foster home and does well coexisting with it inside the home. The most interaction she will have is sniffing it when the kitty walks past her inside, but otherwise she respects the cat's personal space. When the cat goes outside, it does like to torment her by sitting outside the window and hopping up to startle Dottie, she does bark when that happens. If there is a kitty in the home, it is recommended that it be an indoor-only, dog friendly kitty and do slow introductions. Having a separate space with baby gates for the kitty and Dottie to get comfortable with each other is recommended.

Dottie is kennel trained, potty trained and leash trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, and even enjoys hanging out in there with the door open while she eats a chew bone or plays with her stuffed animals. She would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible though. She can be left out of the kennel without being destructive as long as she gets a quick exercise session and has her toys/puzzle games to keep her busy. If she doesn't have anything to chew on or play with, she may help herself to a tennis shoe every now and then. She will happily curl up on the couch to chew on her Bam Bone or work on one of her treat dispensing toys when left alone, and will greet you with a tail wag as soon as you return home. She is potty trained and will not have an accident inside as long as she gets consistent potty breaks and is on a good routine. She will alert you when she needs to go outside by standing at the back door. She is leash trained and loves to go on walks. She can get really excited initially and will grab one of her toys or tennis balls on her way out the door to carry with her on her daily walks. You can always expect her to carry one of her toys in her mouth when it is time to go stroll around the neighborhood.

Dottie's ideal home would be one where she can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but he’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets regular walks and playtime. She would thrive in a home with another playful, friendly dog and older kids to run around and play with, but would be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all her humans' love and affection to herself too. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. She would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if she does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard. Dottie's ideal family would be fun, adventurous, and loving, that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time, and that will let her be her playful, goofy self and love her unconditionally for it.
