Edwin

Edwin is a super sweet, cuddly 2 year old Boxer / Terrier mix that weighs 60 lbs. He is full grown and will not get any larger. He is best described as loving, affectionate, laid back and playfully sweet. He’s a calm, gentle boy who loves nothing more than curling up next to his human for snuggles. He approaches new experiences with soft curiosity, and each day you can see his confidence bloom as he explores more of the world around him. He would do best in a home with a family that has a laid-back lifestyle, but also enjoys adventurous outings. He’s the kind of dog who’s simply happy to be by your side. He loves meeting new human and doggy friends, and is always such a gentleman as he introduces himself. He waits patiently for the new person to give him a pet on the head, then he will turn himself around, melt in your lap. He loves watching his foster mom as she moves around the house, quietly keeping tabs on her with those curious eyes. He’s not a stage-five clinger by any means, but you can always find him lounging nearby. He is the perfect work from home companion because he will happily hang out next to your desk all day. He will even give you a reason to take a couple of much needed breaks to stretch your legs and enjoy the sunshine between meetings. He is a professional level cuddler and the minute you sit down on the couch, he makes his way over and curls up right on your lap. His nickname is "Lover Boy" because he truly loves to share his love with his people and be loved on in return. Edwin would love a family that includes him in all of their fun adventures. Whether it’s going on walks, exploring new places, or enjoying lazy days at home watching movies, he’ll be your most loyal sidekick every step of the way. With his goofy charm, affectionate personality, and heart full of love, Edwin is sure to fill your home with laughter, warmth, and endless cuddles.

Edwin is a low to medium energy pup. He's best described as a perfect mix of active and laid back. He needs short leisurely activities to help burn his energy a few times a day in between his naps. He loves to play with his toys, romp around with his doggy friends, and snoot around the backyard before he finds a comfy spot to sunbathe. He knows how to entertain himself with his toys when he can't find a furry friend to play with. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. He enjoys playing mental stimulation games, like puzzles and treat dispensing toys, that he can work on to get yummy treats as a prize. He would love to go on walks around neighborhood, exploring nature trails, and long hikes with his humans. He is still perfecting his leash walking skills, so the more practice he gets, the better. His adaptable energy level makes him a great fit for families who want a dog that can keep up when it’s time to be active, but also knows how to settle in and relax for lots of cuddle time.

Edwin is dog and kid friendly, but has not been introduced to cats yet. He is currently in a foster home with both medium and large sized dogs, and he loves them all. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another playful dog in his forever home. He has done well learning proper doggy communication skills and respects boundaries set by the older, lower energy dogs in his foster home. He takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of his young pup antics, but sometimes when he has the zoomies, he sometimes runs into them because he doesn't realize his size and isn't the most coordinated with his zoomie patterns in the yard. Once h is corrected though, he will scamper off to find something else to play with and give the other dog personal space. He currently lives with 5 children in his foster home ranging from 4 to 10 years old. He loves them all and never passes up a chance to cuddle up to them on the couch, but he does get a little nervous when the kids are running around screaming while they play. He just puts himself away in one of the bedrooms and hops up on the bed to nap while he avoids being in the kid-fueled chaos. He also loves to play fetch and cuddle up on the couch for snuggles as the kids are reading or doing homework. He is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with older kids. Since he doesn't realize his size sometimes when he's excited, he could accidentally knock over a young toddler or a baby that's learning to walk.

Edwin is kennel trained and potty trained, and is currently working perfecting his leash walking skills. He will sleep in a kennel at night with no fuss if he has to, but he doesn't need to be kenneled because he isn't destructive and won't have an accident inside. He will notify his fosters that he needs to go outside by standing by the back door and will wait patiently until they open the door for him to go outside to do his business. He usually sleeps with one of the kids each night, and rotates between their rooms depending on who is going to bed first. If he does have to be kenneled at night in his forever home, he just enjoys a treat and some toys to be in his kennel with him as he settles in. He can walk on a leash, but isn't the most perfect gentleman on one yet. He pulls when he gets excited as you're initially walking out the front door, but his foster family is working on leash manners with him. He is very food motivated and responds well with treats, so if you need to get him to slow down and pay attention so you can redirect him from pulling on a leash, just tell him "cookie" and he will turn around to focus on you. He will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills once he is in his forever home.

Edwin's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse, but does need multiple walks each day for exercise. He would love to go to the occasional Sniff Spot for exercise and play time if he does live in an apartment or townhome without a fenced in yard. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other playful dogs and older kids for him to cuddle with. With his adaptable, gentle, laid back personality, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will love you with his whole heart, Edwin is ready to be your forever “Lover Boy.”
