Farrah
Farrah is a sweet, spunky 2-3 year old chiweenie (chihuahua / dachshund mix) that weighs 14 lbs. She’s fully grown and the perfect petite size for snuggling. Farrah is the best of both worlds — playful and silly, yet deeply affectionate and loyal. She’s an absolute cuddle bug who loves nothing more than being close to her humans. Whether she’s curled up in your lap, tucked at your side, or pressing her little nose into your hand for pets, she’s happiest when she’s with her people. She adores snuggle time, but when she hears the squeak of her favorite toy, she perks right up and is ready for playtime. Farrah is smart, curious, and very good at keeping herself entertained when you’re busy. She’ll happily spend time playing with her toys, snuffle mats, or puzzle games. She’d be a wonderful companion for someone who works from home since she’s perfectly content to nap nearby or curl up in your office chair while you work. Farrah loves meeting friendly faces when she’s out and about on her daily walks. Her foster mom laughs that she's met more of her neighbors in the past couple of months on their daily walks than she has the entire time she's lived in her neighborhood, and that's all thanks to Farrah. Although she loves meeting new people out in public, she can just needs a bit of patience and space to feel comfortable when she's meeting new people in her home. But she warms up quickly and soon asks for gentle belly rubs and ear scratches after she does some investigating to see if you're good people or bad people first. Farrah’s ideal home would be with a calm, laid-back family who enjoys spending time outdoors and has a low-traffic household. She’d thrive with people who understand her love for cuddling and playtime, and her quirky way of making new human friends inside the home. In return, she’ll give endless love, loyalty, and laughter to the lucky family who welcomes her home.
Farrah is medium energy, so she is a good mix of spunky and playful, but also laid back and happy to curl up on the couch for some snuggles. She has short spurts of energy that are easily burned with some play time with her toys and going on walks around the neighborhood. Farrah loves a good game of fetch or tug-of-war, showing off her fun, goofy personality. Once she’s had her fill of playtime, she’s content to settle in for a long, cozy nap, often in her favorite spot by your side. She also enjoys quiet walks on nature trails, happily trotting along and exploring at her own pace for as long as her human wants to go. She loves to chew on her long lasting chews and deer antlers, and always likes to have some new chew bones stocked up for her to work on if her humans are too busy to play. Give this girl a toy box full of chew bones, squeaky toys, and tug ropes and she will keep herself entertained majority of the day. She would benefit from having a Bark Box subscription and a toy box with a variety of toys to choose from in her forever home. Her favorite activities outside of the home are going on car rides, leisurely walks on nature trails, and exploring nature on longer hikes. She will just be happy to join her human on whatever fun adventure they take her on when the weather is nice, and also perfectly happy snuggling up on the couch for some cuddles on cold, rainy days.
Farrah is dog, cat and kid friendly. She is happy to coexist with other dogs in the home, but really doesn't interact with them too much. She is happy to play with her toys next to other dogs, go on walks with other dogs, and relax on the couch with other dogs, but she doesn't play with them or interact much with them otherwise. She has been in a foster home with both large and small dogs, and she coexisted well with all of them. If there is another dog in the home, she would do best with a more submissive, laid back dog that is mindful and respectful of her personal space, and that doesn't force her to engage with them. But she would be perfectly content being the solo dog in the home and is happy to just go on walks with neighbors' dogs to get her doggy socializing in. She has met kitties before and would be able to acclimate to having a cat in her forever home. Since she is a playful, silly girl, she would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before. Farrah would do best with a lower traffic household, so she would be okay living with older children that understand she may take a little bit of time to be comfortable in new environments initially, but just give her about a half an hour, and she's right up close to you asking for pets and belly rubs. She wouldn't appreciate having lots of random kids that are loud and coming/going from the home though because that could be too overwhelming for her. She loves to cuddle, get belly rubs, and share her sweet puppy kisses with her humans, and once she loves you, she is loyal to you until the end of time.
Farrah is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. She prefers to sleep in bed with her humans and get in as many cuddles as possible while you sleep, but if you need to leave the home, she can be kenneled if needed. However, she is perfectly fine being left out as she isn't destructive and won't have an accident inside. She just crawls on her comfy dog bed with her toys and keeps herself entertained until you get back home. She will signal she needs to go out to potty by sitting at the back door and waiting for her foster mom to let her out. If it takes longer for you to notice her at the backdoor, she will start jumping to get your attention so you can let her out. She walks perfect on a leash and doesn't pull at all. She knows when she sees her leash that it's time for her favorite time of day, which is walks around the neighborhood where she can smell all the smells and see her neighbor friends. Her foster mom jokes that if it wasn't for Farrah making friends with everyone she meets on her walks, then she wouldn't know half of her neighbors.
Farrah's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her family’s daily life and get plenty of love and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but she’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as she gets frequent walks and playtime. She would prefer to have someone home most of the day because she truly loves nothing more than being around her people. She would be perfectly fine being the only pet in the home, but could coexist with a calmer, respectful doggy friend. Farrah may be small, but her heart is enormous. She’s ready to fill her forever family’s life with unconditional love, laughter, and countless snuggles.
