King is a loving, cuddly 4.5 year old Poodle mix that weighs 31 lbs. He is fully grown and will not get any larger. King is the kind of dog who becomes your shadow the moment he meets you. His favorite place in the world is wherever his people are, and he loves knowing what you're doing at all times. Whether you're working around the house, relaxing on the couch, or heading to another room, don't be surprised if you find King following behind you observing everything you're doing. He's happiest when he's close to his family and loves nothing more than curling up for cuddles or resting his head in your lap after a fun day. King is a curious, intelligent boy who loves to explore and investigate anything and everything. Every walk is an adventure filled with exciting smells, interesting bugs to investigate, and new sights to explore. He loves to take in everything around him, always eager to discover something new. He is a social butterfly and has never met a stranger. He enjoys saying hello to everyone he meets, whether they have two legs or four. His friendly, outgoing personality always makes it easy for him to make a new friend. Playtime is one of King's favorite parts of the day. He absolutely loves toys, especially durable chew toys that he can happily entertain himself with for long stretches. He's also convinced that toy boxes exist only as a fun challenge. If you start putting his toys away, King will often follow behind you, proudly pulling them right back out one by one. And if he decides you're taking your cleaning duties a little too seriously, he'll sometimes gather his favorite toys and stash them safely in his kennel instead. His goofy little habits are guaranteed to keep you laughing. While King loves being social with his humans and doggy friends, he's also comfortable entertaining himself when his foster mom is busy doing housework or when she goes to work. When he's ready for a little quiet time, you'll often find him relaxing in his kennel with one of his favorite chew toys, happily content in his own cozy space. At the end of the day, King is all about being close to the people he loves. His perfect evening includes snuggling on the couch before climbing into bed to sleep beside his favorite human. He's a loyal, affectionate, playful companion who wants nothing more than to share every adventure, every quiet moment, and every cuddle with the people he loves most.

King is lower energy, and is best described as laid back and easy going. His idea of the perfect day involves plenty of lounging, cuddling, and quality time with his favorite people.. He doesn't need a lot of physical activity, but he loves to toys and puzzle games. His foster mom calls him a toy enthusiast since he believes you can never have too many toys. His future forever home will need to have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. He also loves playing with fun puzzle games that have his favorite yummy treats. He enjoys playing with his doggy friends, but he isn't one that likes to run around and wrestle. He'd much rather play tug-o-war or fetch with his toys with the other dogs in his foster home. His favorite thing in the world though is cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. He isn't much of an adventurer, so long road trips and busy outings around town aren't really his thing. He much prefers the comforts of home, although he'll happily tag along for a quick trip to the pet store, especially if it means picking out a brand-new toy. His ideal family will appreciate his relaxed pace, enjoy cozy nights in, and understand that all he needs to be happy is a loving family, a comfy couch, a basket overflowing with toys, and plenty of cuddles.

King is incredibly dog-friendly and would thrive in a home with a friendly, laid-back canine companion. He is currently living in a foster home with both a large and a small dog, and he gets along beautifully with both of them. Whether they're quietly hanging out together, sharing toys, or enjoying a gentle game of tug-of-war, King is always happy to spend time with a furry friend. While he'd love having another dog in the home, King certainly doesn't need one to be happy. He would also do wonderfully as the only dog, provided he continues to have opportunities for occasional playdates with other friendly pups. He enjoys socializing, but he's equally content entertaining himself with his favorite toys or relaxing on the couch with his people. One of King's most endearing qualities is his excellent dog manners. When meeting a new canine friend, he's calm, polite, and respectful. He's always happy to make a new friend, but he doesn't overwhelm other dogs with over-the-top excitement. Instead, he approaches introductions with confidence and a relaxed demeanor, making him an easy companion for many different personalities. King would also make a wonderful family dog and would do best in a home with children ages 5 and older. When King wants a little extra affection, he'll often stand up and gently place his front paws on your legs as his way of asking for pets and cuddles. While it's an adorable habit, he could accidentally knock over a toddler or a young child who is still unsteady on their feet, which is why we recommend children who are at least 5 years old. He takes treats with the softest mouth, carefully and politely accepting them before quietly wandering off to enjoy his snack. He has wonderful manners and isn't pushy or demanding, making him an easy dog to live with. King loves to be included in family activities, and he'll happily soak up every bit of love and affection he's given, but he's also capable of being independent when his humans are busy. King has not been tested with cats, so we are unable to say how he would do living with them in a home environment.

King is kennel trained and potty trained, and for the most part, leash trained. He will go into the kennel by himself and put himself to bed. He's perfectly fine with sleeping in a kennel all night, and as long as he can take some of his toys with him, he will not make a fuss. He usually likes to take at least 3-5 toys with him to bed every night. While he's fin sleeping in a kennel, he would really love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible though. He can walk on a leash and is a gentleman when walking around in the pet stores and short, leisurely walks around the block. He's not a huge fan of going on long adventures and is more of a stop-and-sniff kind of guy. His walks are usually very slow as he is much more interested in sniffing every single thing he passes rather than actually exercising. He is potty trained and will notify you that he needs to go out by doing sitting at the back door. He is still learning to alert his humans he needs to go, so you'll have to keep an eye on him when he wanders towards the back door. He does well on a consistent schedule and would benefit from learning how to use a doggy doorbell to get your attention when he needs to go outside. King does need to be brushed multiple times a week and go to a groomer every 6-8 weeks, so having an experienced adopter that is familiar with a dog that needs frequent grooming appointments is preferred.

King's ideal home is one where he can spend lots of quality time with his humans. He thrives on companionship and would prefer having a family that is home more often than not. A home with a securely fenced yard would be a dream come true for King. While he isn't a high energy dog who needs to run laps around the yard, he thoroughly enjoys wandering at his own pace, sniffing every interesting scent, soaking up the sunshine, and taking in the world around him. King could also adapt well to living in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private yard, provided his family is committed to meeting his needs with regular walks, enrichment activities, and plenty of time together. Because he isn't overly active and is happiest lounging with his people, the size of the home matters far less than the amount of companionship he receives. A person who works from home would make apartment living especially successful for him. Although King would be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as the only dog in the home, he'd also enjoy sharing his life with another friendly, easygoing dog. His ideal canine companion would be one with a similar laid-back personality. His perfect doggy match would enjoy a little playtime, doesn't mind sharing toys, and enjoys relaxing on the couch together afterward. He would love to have a family with children ages 5 and older. Because King forms strong bonds with his people, he'd especially enjoy if his human works from home, is a stay-at-home spouse, or is retired.  He would not enjoy spending long workdays home alone on a regular basis, as he truly blossoms when he has companionship and someone to share his day with. King looking for a family that appreciates life's quieter moments. If you're searching for a loyal companion who will happily keep you company, entertain himself with a basket full of toys, and never pass up an opportunity to cuddle, King may just be the perfect addition to your family.
