Pickle

Pickle is a playful, goofy 8 week old terrier mix that weighs 5 lbs. He is estimated to be around 45-50 lbs once he is full grown. Pickle has a big personality packed into a tiny little body. The best way to describe Pickle? Silly, sweet, animated, and hilariously entertaining. Affection is Pickle’s love language and he takes his role as a cuddle bug seriously. He doesn’t just give puppy kisses, he insists on getting kisses too. He’ll crawl right into his foster mom’s lap, place his little paws gently on her chest, and press his mouth up to hers so she can shower him with kisses. It’s his signature move, and it melts hearts every single time. He bonds deeply and loves being close to his people. He has that perfect balance of laid-back charm and adventurous spirit. He’s just as happy tagging along for a busy day out as he is lounging at home soaking up attention. Pickle loves being the life of the party, and his social butterfly personality makes him an ideal match for someone who enjoys bringing their pup along to dog-friendly brunch spots, outdoor patios, play dates, or fun city strolls. He thrives on being included and is always ready to charm everyone he meets. His confident and curious nature allows Pickle to approach life with a fearless sense of wonder. New environments, new smells, new friends, he’s ready to explore it all. But he’s also wonderfully easygoing and adaptable. Want to hike scenic trails and explore the outdoors? He’s your adventure buddy. Prefer a cozy movie marathon the next day? He’ll be sprawled out beside you through the whole movie. For such a young pup, Pickle is impressively independent when needed. While his foster mom works from home, he entertains himself with his toy collection and favorite chew bones. Instead of pulling all the toys out of the toy box, he often climbs right inside it to enjoy them all at once making it his own little puppy playground. When he’s ready for attention, he politely places his two front paws on his foster mom’s legs as his way of saying, “Okay, it’s cuddle time now.” And cuddle time is serious business. When he’s sleepy, Pickle rolls onto his back like a baby, paws relaxed in the air, waiting for gentle belly rubs before drifting off to sleep. It’s impossible not to fall in love. Pickle is the total package: playful but gentle, adventurous yet calm, independent but deeply affectionate. He’s looking for a forever home that will include him in life’s fun moments, shower him with love, and appreciate his goofy, joyful spirit. In return, he promises endless entertainment, unwavering companionship, and more puppy kisses than you ever thought possible.
Pickle is low to medium energy. He enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation, and is really good about entertaining himself with his toys and chew bones. His energy level will increase as he gets older, but he is overall pretty mellow. Currently he has short bursts of puppy energy followed by long naps. He loves playing with toys, romping around with his doggy friends, and cuddling on the couch with his foster mom. His favorite games are mental stimulation toys that involve treats. This boy loves food and will spend an hour working on a puzzle game trying to get every last treat hidden inside. He also enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and will pounce in front of another dog in a play bow when he's ready to engage in a fun game of chase or play wrestle. He would love to go to doggy day care a couple of days during the week or have doggy play dates if there are no other dogs in his forever home because he loves having fun with his furry friends. While he enjoys playing with his doggy and human friends, he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys when he can't find anyone to play with. When he's ready for some down time, he will find a comfy spot on a dog bed and chew on a bone. As he grows up, he would be a great pup to take on fun adventures exploring nature trails and going on longer hikes with his humans. He will need more practice and exposure to going to dog-friendly stores and outings in busy public places as he grows up to ensure he continues important socialization skills. He's the type of pup that would thrive in a family that enjoys the outdoors, but also enjoys some lazy days cuddling on the couch too. His ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month, especially now that he is about to start teething.

Pickle is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He is currently in a foster home with both small and large sized dogs, and he loves them all. He especially loves the senior pittie in the home and pounces around her trying to get her to pay attention to him. When that doesn't work, he brings toys to her on the dog bed and plays next to her until he falls asleep for a nap. He is a social butterfly when it comes to making new dog friends and would benefit from having another confident, playful dog in his forever home. He has learned proper doggy communication skills and boundaries from his older doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they are tired of his puppy antics. He will scamper off to find something else to play with instead when he can't find a doggy playmate. Because of his young age and friendly demeanor, he would be able to join a family that has a cat in the home. Since he is a silly, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as he is a puppy and will want to play with them. Dill would do well with kids of all ages. He loves to play, cuddle, and share his sweet puppy kisses with everyone he meets. He is very gentle and sweet, and would be perfect for a family with kids. He is going to start teething soon, so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around. Oh, and he really likes to playfully grab ahold of your sock when you're walking around the house and thinks it is a fun game to be scooted across the tile floor. He may trip a smaller toddler just learning how to walk because of his love for chasing socks.

Pickle is kennel trained, and is currently working on mastering potty training. He is too young to start leash training, but his foster mom will begin this soon. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a treat and some of his favorite toys as he settles in. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. He is doing well with potty training and will use a potty pad if he needs to go and his foster mom doesn't let him out quick enough. He does need a consistent schedule and be taken out every few hours, so he will need someone who either works from home or that can take him to a dog-friendly office while he's still working on potty training. He is still learning to notify his foster mom that he needs to go out to potty, but he will run to the back door and start pacing when he needs to go outside. His foster mom will start working on leash training in the next couple of weeks once he is a little more coordinated, and he will need additional practice to perfect his leash walking skills in his forever home.

Pickle's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. He would do well in an apartment, condo or townhouse as long as he gets frequent exercise and potty breaks throughout the day. He is still learning how to go up and down stairs, but because he has little legs, he takes a while to make it up half way and his foster mom still helps him out. He won't mind stairs in his forever home once he gets older though. It is preferred that his human either works from home, can go home on lunch break to take him out, or can take him into a dog-friendly office while he is still young. He would also love to go to doggy day care a few times a week if there are no other dogs in the home so that he can have some fun playing with other doggy friends. No public dog parks for this little boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would do love to have a family that has other dogs and kids, and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. With his adaptable, laid back nature, he would be a wonderful fit for a variety of households. His ideal family is one that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and also cuddle up on the couch after. Because Pickle is such a social butterfly, he’d do best with people who enjoy bringing their dog along whenever possible. He lights up around new friends and loves attention, so a home that includes him in gatherings and everyday activities would suit his personality perfectly. He’s ready to grow up alongside a family who will cherish his playful spirit, nurture his confidence, and include him in all of life’s big and small moments. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will make every day brighter and every night cozier, Pickle is the pup for you.
