Queenie

Queenie is a loving, cuddly 4 year old Westie / Poodle mix that weighs 23 lbs. She is fully grown and will not get any larger. Queenie is a sweet, affectionate cuddle bug that is a true social butterfly. She is very outgoing and enjoys making new friends everywhere she goes. She has an adventurous spirit and loves going wherever her humans go. Car rides are one of her favorite things because they usually lead to exciting new places filled with new people to meet. Queenie would be the perfect companion for trips to dog-friendly shops, outdoor brunches, breweries, or neighborhood events. She enjoys being included in everyday life and has wonderful manners while out and about, making every outing a little more fun. She has a gentle, loving soul and is happiest when she is close to the people she loves. She enjoys giving affection just as much as she enjoys receiving it and is always ready to curl up beside you after a day of fun. She loves cozy evenings spent cuddling on the couch, especially if her favorite show, Chopped, is on TV. She has a relaxed side, and enjoys being pampered with baths and having her hair brushed, soaking up every bit of attention. She also has a playful and silly side that makes her so much fun to be around. he makes friends with other dogs very easily and her face lights up when she gets to play with other dogs. Being chased by her dog friends is her absolute favorite activity to do around the yard. She has an adventurous spirit and is always eager to tag along on every outing with her humans. Whether it's a walk through the neighborhood, a ride in the car, or exploring somewhere new, as long as she's with her people, Queenie is a happy girl. She is the perfect dog to take on fun adventures to dog-friendly shops or outdoor patios for brunch with friends where she can soak up all the love from everyone she meets while getting her steps in for the day. If you're looking for a best friend who will happily accompany you on adventures, charm everyone she meets, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Queenie is ready to fill that role with her whole heart.

Queenie is low to medium energy. She has short spurts of energy that are easily burned with short exercise activities, otherwise she's pretty mellow. She is best described as an active couch potato because she's happy to lounge around as long as her human wants to, but the minute you want to go outside and play, she's ready to join you. She requires around an hour of energy burning activities per day that could include short walks around the neighborhood, playtime in the backyard, or mental enrichment games. She loves playing with her toys, fun games that involve yummy treats, and anything that keeps her engaged with her people. She also enjoys romping around with her doggy friends and cuddling on the couch with her foster mom. She never passes up the chance to hop in the car to join her humans on dog-friendly outings and absolutely loves going to dog-friendly stores around town. Her favorite activities involve just being with her humans. She's not big on playing with a lot of toys, but she enjoys activities that give her a bit of mental stimulation, so puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that she can work on to get some yummy dog treats.

Queenie is incredibly dog-friendly and would thrive in a home with another playful canine companion, though she would also be perfectly happy as the only dog soaking up all the attention. She is currently living in a foster home with both a large and small dog and gets along wonderfully with both of them. She absolutely loves having doggy friends to play with, whether it's romping around the yard or sharing a cozy spot on the couch after a day of fun. One of the cutest things about Queenie is how excited she gets when she spots another dog on walks or outings. She genuinely loves making new friends, and her whole body starts wiggling with excitement when she thinks she's about to say hello. Because she's so enthusiastic, she may pull on the leash a little when first approaching another dog. Once she's given a brief moment to settle down, she relaxes quickly and is able to greet new friends politely. Her excitement comes purely from wanting to play and socialize. While Queenie enjoys sharing the couch with her canine companions, she would prefer to keep one special place all to herself, which is her human's bed. She loves being close to her people at bedtime and would rather not share that snuggle spot with another dog. Queenie would also make a wonderful family dog and would do best in a home with children ages 5 and older. She's an affectionate, playful girl who adores attention and isn't shy about asking for it. When she's excited, she'll often stand up and put her front paws on your legs in hopes of earning some extra pets and cuddles. Because of her enthusiastic greetings, she could accidentally knock over a toddler or young child who is still unsteady on their feet, which is why we recommend children who are at least 5 years old. She would absolutely love having kids to play with, cuddle with, and follow around the house. Queenie's favorite thing in the world is being included in family activities, and she'll happily soak up every bit of love and affection she's given. Her sweet, gentle nature and playful personality make her a wonderful companion for an active family looking for a dog who truly wants to be part of everything they do. Queenie has not been tested with cats, so we are unable to say how she would do living with them in a home environment.
Queenie is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She will go into the kennel by herself and put herself to bed, and sleeps in a kennel all night with no fuss. She loves to have a comfy dog bed and some yummy treats before she falls asleep, then she will settle right in for the night. She would really love to snuggle up in bed with her humans every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible though. She walks well on a leash, and loves to go on walks around the neighborhood and to dog-friendly stores as well. She does get excited to see new people and other dogs because she wants to meet them, but is easy to redirect with a treat and continuing on with the walk. She is potty trained and will notify you that she needs to go out by doing a tap dance and putting her paws up on the back door. She does well on a consistent schedule with both her potty and exercise breaks. If she is in her kennel and needs to potty, she will cry to let you know. Queenie does need to be brushed multiple times a week and go to a groomer every 6-8 weeks, so having an experienced adopter that is familiar with a dog that needs frequent grooming appointments is preferred.

Queenie's ideal home is one where she can truly be part of the family. She thrives on companionship and loves being included in everyday activities, whether that's running errands, going for walks, enjoying a dog-friendly brunch, or simply relaxing on the couch at the end of the day. Wherever her people are, that's exactly where Queenie wants to be. She would love a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely zoom around, play, and soak up the sunshine. Because she enjoys having space to explore and burn off her playful energy, a traditional apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private yard would not be her ideal environment. Queenie loves being the center of attention and would happily accept all the cuddles and affection her family has to offer. While she'd be perfectly content as the only dog in the home, she would also enjoy living with another friendly, playful dog who matches her social personality. She would make a wonderful addition to a family with children ages 5 and older. The more love and attention she receives, the happier she is. Because Queenie forms strong bonds with her people, she'd especially enjoy a home where someone is around for a good portion of the day. A person who works from home, has a hybrid schedule, is retired, or even works in a dog-friendly office would be a fantastic match. If her family works outside the home full-time, she'd benefit from a midday dog walker or pet sitter to provide a potty break, exercise, and a little companionship so she isn't left alone for long stretches. With her adaptable, affectionate, and outgoing personality, Queenie would fit beautifully into many different types of families. If you're searching for a loyal companion who will greet every day with enthusiasm, shower you with love, and make friends wherever she goes, Queenie may be the perfect addition to your family.
