Freckles

Freckles is a sweet, outgoing 2 year old hound mix that weighs 46 lbs. He full grown and will not get any larger. This handsome boy is a perfect blend of silly, social, cuddly, and curious. One of Freckles’ most adorable habits is what his foster family calls his “corn cob nibbles.” When he’s especially happy or excited to see you, he gently nibbles with his front teeth as a way of showing affection. It’s a funny and endearing little quirk that perfectly captures his sweet and goofy personality. He absolutely loves to be included in whatever his humans are doing. Whether it's a fun outing to dog-friendly stores, going on a ride to get a pup cup from Starbucks, or joining his humans on fun outdoor adventures like hiking or exploring nature, Freckles is always happy to join. He is the type of dog who just enjoys being by your side. Freckles is also very well-mannered when he’s out and about. He may come off as being a little shy, but he is just being a gentleman and patiently waits for the queue that he can greet someone new. Before you know it, he's sharing his corn cob nibbles and sweet puppy kisses with you. When he really loves you, he will wrap his arms around your waist to hug you. Because of his friendly nature and love of adventure, he would thrive with a family that enjoys including their dog in activities and experiences. Freckles’ dream home would be with a person or family who loves both adventure and relaxation. He’d love someone who enjoys getting outside, exploring trails, or taking weekend outings, but who also appreciates a loyal dog curled up beside them at the end of the day. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who will happily join you on life’s adventures and then cuddle up beside you when the day is done, Freckles might just be the perfect match for you.

Freckles is medium energy, so he enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation. He will need longer walks or play time multiple times a day to help him burn some energy, but after that, you can find him curled up on the couch taking a long nap. Outdoor activities are some of Freckles' favorite things. He would be the perfect pup for someone who enjoys fun beach days, hiking through the mountains, or simply hanging out in the backyard playing a good game of tug-o-war when the weather is nice. He really enjoys playing with his doggy friends, but he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys when he can't find another pup to play with. He is very treat motivated and enjoys activities that give him a bit of mental stimulation. He would love to have some puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that he can work on to win the main prize, some yummy dog treats. His future home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.

Freckles is dog and kid friendly, but hasn't been introduced to cats yet. He is currently in a foster home with both small and medium sized dogs, and he loves them all. He loves to play other dogs of any size and age, and really loves the ones who match his playful, silly personality. He would love to have another playful dog in his forever home, but he would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, too. He does need to be fed separately from other dogs because he doesn't like to share his food bowl with them, but once feeding time is over, he can't wait to join his doggy friends again for play time. Freckles would love to have older kids in the home that he can play fetch and cuddle with. Because he doesn't realize his size and can have a wiggle butt when he's excited, he would knock over a young child or toddler who is learning how to walk. Because he has not yet been introduced to any cats, it is not recommended that there be any cats in the home to be on the safe side.

Freckles is kennel trained, potty trained and leash trained. He sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss, but enjoys a yummy treat while he settles in. He would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible though. He can be left out of the kennel without being destructive and he does not have separation anxiety. He will happily curl up on the couch to nap when left alone, and will greet you with a tail wag as soon as you return home. He is fully potty trained and will not have an accident inside. He will even alert you when he needs to go outside. He is leash trained and walks like a gentleman. He is not reactive to people or other dogs while on leashed walks.

Freckles' ideal home would be one where he can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. He would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but he’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as he gets regular walks and playtime. He would thrive in a home with other dogs and older kids to run around and play with, but would be completely happy being the "only child" and getting all his humans' love and affection to himself. If he is the only dog in the home, he would benefit from going to doggy day care or having play dates with doggy friends occasionally. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots for playtime and exercise if he does live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse without a private fenced-in yard.  Freckles' ideal family would be with a fun, adventurous, and loving, that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time, and that will let him be his playful, goofy self and love him unconditionally for it.
