Romeo

Legend is a playful, outgoing 7 week old lab/husky mix that weighs 5 lbs. He is estimated to be around 40-50 lbs once he is full grown. Legend is the class clown of his litter, and always finds ways to entertain himself and everyone around him with his silly puppy antics. He's very affectionate and never turns down a chance to snuggle up with his humans. He loves to share his sweet puppy kisses with his humans, but if you try to give him kisses back he puts up his paw and gives you a look like "hey - I'm the one giving all the kisses here". His foster mom jokes that he's an old man stuck in a tiny puppy body because he likes to sit back and watch his siblings play wrestle, often with a hilariously judgy expression. When he does join in on the play wrestling and doesn’t win, he makes the funniest offended face before he trots off to play by himself. Legend is great at self-entertaining and is usually the last one in his litter to fall asleep. He is curious by nature and loves to explore everything and anything. If there's a cardboard box on the floor, you can count on him to stick his head over the top to see what's inside. He’s the kind of pup who will have you laughing one minute and melting into snuggles the next. Legend’s ideal family would be one that enjoys fun, adventure, and spending time outdoors. Whether it’s leisurely walks on nature trails, exploring new places, or tagging along to dog-friendly shops around town, Legend will be happiest right by your side, soaking up all the love and attention.

Legend is medium energy, so he enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation. Right now because he is so young, he quickly burns his puppy energy after 15-20 minutes of non-stop play a few times a day. As he gets older, he will need longer walks or play time multiple times a day. This spunky boy loves romping around the backyard, playing with his favorite toys, and hanging out with the other dogs in his foster home. While he enjoys playing with his doggy friends, he’s also perfectly content to entertain himself with his favorite toys when he can't find another pup to play with. He enjoys activities that give him a bit of mental stimulation, and would love to have some puzzle games and treat dispensing toys that he can work on to win the main prize - some yummy dog cookies. As he grows and masters leash training, Legend would love to go on neighborhood walks or explore longer nature trails as he hikes with his humans. His future home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and he’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. Puzzle games and chew bones will also be great for keeping him busy indoors, especially as he starts teething soon.

Legend is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He loves other furry friends and would love to have another playful dog in his forever home. He would be perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but he would benefit from having frequent play dates with other dogs as he grows up so he continues learning proper doggy communication skills and play etiquette. He would do best in a home with another dog that is patient and playful as he is a puppy and would probably annoy an older dog who isn't used to puppy energy and silly antics. It would benefit him to continue socializing him with dogs of all ages and sizes though so he learns how to interact with them. Because of his young age and easy going demeanor, he would be able to acclimate to having a cat in his forever home with slow introductions. Since he is a goofy, playful puppy, he would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before and don't mind standing their ground when he gets to be annoying (because he is a puppy and he will to a cat). Legend would do well with kids of all ages, but would really love to have older kids to romp around and play with. He loves to cuddle and share his sweet puppy kisses with everyone he meets, but may trip a small child who isn't steady on their feet because he's fond of chasing after shoes and grabbing onto shoelaces. He is going to start teething soon so his humans will need to keep a watchful eye on him to make sure he doesn't chew on human kid toys laying around in his reach. Since he is very fun-loving, cuddly, and playful, he would do great with a family with kids who want a fun, spunky pup to grow up with.

Legend is kennel trained and has mastered potty pad training, and has just started transitioning outside for potty training now that he is old enough. He has not yet started leash training due to his young age, so he will need additional practice with that as he grows a bit more. He sleeps in a kennel and playpen setup at night with no fuss, but he is usually the last one to fall asleep. When he is ready for bed, he just crawls on his comfy dog bed with his toy and keeps himslf entertained until he falls asleep. When he gets older, he would love to snuggle up in bed with his humans every night so he can get in as many cuddles as possible. For now while he is still potty training, it is recommended to use a kennel or puppy play pen at night and when you are not home. He is doing well with potty training now that he is transitioning to going potty outside. He is still learning how to signal he needs to be let out and will need additional practice in his forever home.

Legend's ideal home would be one where he can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, exercise, and attention. He would love to live in a home with a fenced yard to run and play in, but he’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as he gets regular walks and playtime. Since he’s still a young puppy, he will need someone home most of the day or that's able to take him to the office if working a hybrid schedule as he still needs frequent potty breaks and socialization. He would thrive in a home with other dogs and kids to run around and play with, and can even coexist with some kitties in the home too. If he is the only dog in the home, he would benefit from going to doggy day care to help him burn his puppy energy and to learn proper play etiquette with other dogs as he continues to grow. Legend’s ideal home would be with a fun, adventurous, loving family that enjoys a balance of outdoor adventures and cozy cuddle time, and that will let him be his playful, goofy self and love him unconditionally for it.
