Sheldon is a loving, affectionate 4-5 year old Pocket Bully that weighs 45 lbs. He is fully grown and will not get any larger. This adorable little low-rider has a calm, easygoing personality and is happiest simply being with his people. He's the kind of dog who doesn't need to be the center of attention, but just wants to be included in whatever you're doing. Whether you're running errands, enjoying a leisurely walk, relaxing on the couch, or working around the house, Sheldon is content to be right by your side. Human companionship is what Sheldon lives for. He forms deep bonds with his family and truly thrives on love, affection, and quality time together. He's equally happy accompanying you on a fun outing around town or spending a quiet afternoon at home, as long as he gets to be with the people he loves. Affection is Sheldon's love language and he takes his role as a cuddle bug seriously. He loves to snuggle up close and rest his head on your chest while he stares at you adoringly. Sheldon's loving, loyal nature makes him an incredibly easy dog to fall in love with. He isn't demanding, high maintenance, or a stage five clinger. Instead, he's the perfect balance of affectionate and independent. He enjoys knowing what his family is up to and has a naturally curious personality. If you wander into another room, don't be surprised if you see his adorable little face peeking around the corner to investigate what you're doing. He's everyone's favorite little neighborhood supervisor, always making sure he isn't missing out on anything important. Beneath his mellow personality is a wonderfully goofy side that keeps life entertaining. When he's feeling playful, one of his favorite things to do is dramatically flop onto his back right in front of you, silently requesting a chest rub. The moment you start rubbing his chest, he'll wiggle his entire body across the floor like he's experiencing a tiny earthquake, complete with the happiest grin on his face. He is the kind of pup who can keep you laughing with his silly antics one moment, then melt into your lap for snuggles the next. Sheldon's easygoing, adaptable nature makes him an excellent companion in just about any setting. He settles into new environments with ease and has the confidence to accompany his family on dog-friendly adventures. Whether it's grabbing coffee at a coffee shop, strolling through a local farmers market, visiting friends, or enjoying a walk around the neighborhood, Sheldon is happy to tag along. He would be a great work from home companion. While you're answering emails or sitting through meetings, Sheldon will happily stretch out beside your desk, quietly napping until it's time for a cuddle break. At the end of the workday, he'll be more than ready to trade the office chair for the couch and spend the evening curled up next to you for movie night. With his gentle heart, goofy personality, unwavering loyalty, and endless affection, Sheldon is the kind of dog who effortlessly becomes part of the family. He's looking for a home where he can be included, loved, and appreciated for the sweet, funny, and devoted companion he truly is. 

 

Sheldon is low energy and is best described as a couch potato. If you're spending the day relaxing at home, he'll be more than happy to curl up nearby and snooze the day away. But the moment you grab his leash or ask if he's ready to go, he's always eager to join you on whatever adventure you have planned. He is affectionately nicknamed "pygmy house hippo," and the nickname couldn't be more fitting. Most days, you'll find Sheldon happily curled up on a cozy bed or stretched out on the couch, snoring away without a care in the world. He has mastered the art of relaxation and is perfectly content spending a lazy Sunday binge-watching TV with his favorite people. Although Sheldon has a low energy level, he still enjoys getting out to explore the world. He loves to go on car rides and will look out the window the whole time. He's incredibly adaptable and happy to match his family's lifestyle. Whether that's a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, a peaceful walk through a local nature preserve, or even a longer hike on the trails, Sheldon is always excited to tag along. He doesn't need constant physical activity to be happy. Sheldon isn't particularly interested in playing with toys, but he loves puzzle games. He's very food motivated and loves anything that challenges his brain while rewarding him with a tasty snack. Puzzle toys, treat-dispensing games, snuffle mats, and enrichment activities are some of his favorite ways to stay entertained. Give Sheldon a puzzle filled with yummy treats, and he'll happily work away until he's earned every last reward. If there's one thing Sheldon loves almost as much as cuddling, it's snacks. This boy is incredibly food motivated and would do just about anything for a treat. Because of that, training with Sheldon is an easy activity to engage with him in. The moment he realizes you have a treat in your hand, you have his complete and undivided attention. He's eager to learn, loves positive reinforcement, and is always ready to show off for a delicious reward.

Sheldon is dog and kid friendly. He loves having a dog companion to spend time with. His foster mom jokes that her small scruffy dog is Sheldon's emotional support dog because Sheldon does not want to go on walks without him now. Although he likes to have another dog around, he really doesn't interact with them other than napping on the couch next to them or going on walks around the neighborhood with his foster mom and her dog. He is always polite and respectful when he meets a new dog, and actually avoids dogs on walks that bark at him. He is not reactive at all and will not even bark back if another dog barks at him. He simply turns his head the opposite way as if he's thinking that if he can't see them, then they can't see him. He would be okay without another dog in the home if his human works from home and spends lots of 1:1 time with him, but he would like to have another doggy friend to coexist with in the home. His ideal canine companion is lower energy, well-mannered, and respects his laid-back personality. He's not interested in constant wrestling matches or rough play, and would prefer peaceful companionship and simply sharing his space with another dog. He would also make an excellent family dog. He previously lived with children and absolutely loved the pre-teen in his original foster home. Because of his bulldozer cuddle style and tendency to put his full body weight on you when he's snuggling with you, it is recommended that he go to a home with kids 10 and up. His calm, easygoing temperament and affectionate personality make him a wonderful companion for a family who enjoyd having a dog to cuddle with. He always wants to be included in family activities and accompany you on walks or outdoor adventures. Sheldon is patient, gentle, and loves being part of the family, making him the kind of dog who fits naturally into everyday life. Sheldon would do best in a cat-free home. While he's a wonderful companion for people and gets along well with other dogs, he is not a fan of feline friends and would be happiest in a home without cats.

Sheldon is fully potty trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. He has perfect leash walking manners and loves to join his human on lots of fun adventures exploring the town. He successfully lived in a foster home in a downtown Austin apartment complex and did wonderful. He was always happy to meet new people and will wait patiently to be greeted by a new friend. He does not react to other dogs on walks and does not pull on a leash when passing another dog on the sidewalk. He simply ignores them and keeps walking. He sleeps on a dog bed in his foster home and can be left unattended without being destructive, but can sleep in the kennel if needed. He's quiet, low energy, and does not have any separation anxiety when he is left alone. He would really love to sleep with his forever family in bed at night, but would be perfectly content to sleep on a dog bed right next to the bed too. He is fully potty trained, and will not have an accident or mark his territory in the home. He will communicate he needs to potty by tap dancing by the door and making little piggy grunt noises. He is perfectly content just going outside to potty and going back in when he's done. He doesn't need a full walk for a potty break, so he will potty then head straight back inside to go finish his nap or cuddle session. 

Sheldon's ideal home would be one where he can be included in his family’s daily life and get plenty of love, cuddles, and attention. He would be perfectly content living in a house with a fenced in yard, apartment, condo, or townhouse. He is easily adaptable to every environment he's placed in. He would prefer and would love to share his space and coexist with another laid back dog in the home. He doesn't need a dog to play with, but simply hang out with. He would love to have some kids to cuddle with too. No public dog parks for this sweet boy because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. He would love to have fun adventures at Sniff Spots to walk around, sniff, and explore instead. He would love if his human works from home or works a hybrid schedule, but he's also fine if his human works out of the home. He will nap, lounge around, and patiently wait for you to get back home at the end of the work day. Sheldon's easygoing personality makes him a wonderful companion for a variety of lifestyles. He's just as content enjoying a quiet day at home as he is heading out to explore, making him the perfect dog for someone looking for a best friend who can effortlessly switch between adventure buddy and professional couch companion.
